What is Sport Psychology?
It is the scientific study of how psychology influences sports, athletic performance, exercise, and physical activity. There are 2 fundamental areas which psychologists may focus on when working with athletes and individuals:
1: Assisting and educating athletes on the psychological principles that can be utilised to achieve optimal mental health, improve performance and increase motivation.
2: Learning how participation in any physical or sporting activity can affect an individual’s psychological development, health and well-being throughout a person’s lifespan.
