- Trauma and PTSD
Samantha is our Principal Psychologist with over 20 years experience in Psychology and Sport Psychology, and is registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is also endorsed as a provider of psychology services under Medicare. Samantha is a member of the Australian Association of Psychology Inc. (AAPi).
Samantha discovered the benefits of psychology during her teens when she was swimming competitively
at National level. During her swimming career she had the benefit of working with sport psychologists to maximise her performances in the pool. After experiencing her own sporting successes through psychology, she then decided to help others and complete her undergraduate and postgraduate psychology studies in Sydney at the University of New South Wales and Sydney University.
Several years later she returned to university and completed a Masters degree in Sport Psychology, and
spent time being mentored and trained by psychologists at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra
and the New South Wales Institute of Sport, located in the 2000 Sydney Olympic precinct at Homebush.
Over the past twenty years Samantha has used her Psychology background working in Human Resources within the Finance and Healthcare industries, as well as Injury Rehabilitation and Injury Assessment for a number of Injury Management companies, specialising in return to work and chronic injury management. Samantha then started her own Psychology Consulting Business and has worked in private practice since 2003 both in Sydney and on the Gold Coast.
In recent years Samantha has continued to be involved in sport, competing for several years with her
husband and eldest daughter in the Noosa Triathlon, as both an individual athlete and Corporate team swimmer, Mooloolaba Triathlon and the local Robina Triathlon series on the Gold Coast as a member of
a Corporate Allied Healthcare team always doing the swim leg (of course)!!
Over the years with her consulting experience, and work with sports teams and professional athletes, Samantha has learnt that the excitement associated with Sport Psychology and an athletes' career is
short-lived. Since getting married and having a family she has discovered the overwhelming benefits of helping nurture and develop the mental health and emotional well-being of young adults in preparation
for adulthood.
Today Samantha gets pleasure from helping adolescents, adults, and athletes grow as individuals, and
help them to overcome or improve their mental health and positive well-being.
